The Sunbeam Morph History

Oceanex: The revolution of main lamps for wreck and cave divers.

Just a few years ago, a focusable LED-based main lamp in a slim test tube design seemed unattainable. While some manufacturers made initial attempts, the light output of their systems remained behind that of conventional HID lamps.

But the developers at Oceanex had a vision. In 2007 they set their first milestones with their own LED systems, which achieved over 2,700 lumens. The path to perfection was not an easy one, however. The systems at the time were too large and the design with a flat front panel represented a physical limitation, because such front panels absorb around 20% - 30% of the light output. But in 2009 the breakthrough came: a first precursor to the OCEANEX SUNBEAM , which still does its job reliably today.

The biggest challenge was to cool the high-performance LEDs effectively and at the same time achieve precise focusing - an apparent contradiction. While point emitters are necessary for optimal focusing, LEDs work as area emitters. Our solution? A radial design with three LEDs in series, mounted on an innovative burner base that is cooled to the front and back.

In 2013, the Oceanex team took the decisive step towards the "SUNBEAM".

By developing high-performance LEDs that met the requirements for heat generation, light composition and efficiency, we were able to create a system that not only competes with conventional gas discharge lamps, but surpasses them in many areas. The combination of practical experience, extensive testing above and below water and the valuable feedback from our users resulted in a main lamp that is still valued worldwide today.

The evolution of lamp technology: the Morph lighting system for technical divers.

This further development of the SUNBEAM set new standards in the industry for high-end tank lamps. With an impressive light output of up to 5500 lumens and, depending on the configuration of the supplied reflectors, a peak output of 125,000 lux, today's Morph system is one of the world's leading lighting solutions for technical divers.

Despite this enormous increase in performance, our developers have succeeded in making the lamp head even lighter - numerous other improvements and the possibility of individual adjustment make the OCEANEX Morph 2.0 probably the best main lamp for technical divers worldwide.

The series will be ready for production in the first quarter of 2025. Until then, interested parties have the opportunity to register on our waiting list . The Oceanex Morph 2.0 will then be shipped in the order of the waiting list position.

The production location in Germany guarantees the highest precision and reliability.

Another important aspect: All of our lamps are made entirely in Germany - with the exception of the high-performance CREE LEDs from the USA. This local production guarantees the highest quality and reliability, which makes the Morph system an indispensable tool for demanding dives. Oceanex proves once again that the best can always be made even better.

Whether in caves in Europe, from Croatia to Scotland, in the cenotes of Mexico or the depths of the oceans of Australia - Oceanex lamp systems are used everywhere. They are valued equally by cave divers and wreck enthusiasts.

An OCEANEX diving lamp is an indispensable companion and a central element of the equipment of every professional technical diver or very ambitious scuba diver.

But this is just the beginning.

The story of OCEANEX diving lamps continues.

We use the feedback of the global Oceanex community to continuously develop our dive lights and support technical divers with solutions that set standards. It is important to us that existing systems can be updated as far as technically possible.
